LOS ANGELES, March 3 (UPI) -- Hollywood's Warner Bros. studio is working on a big-screen adaptation of the classic 1960s television sit-com "Gilligan's Island," Variety said.

The iconic show followed the adventures of seven castaways -- a ship's skipper and first mate, a wealthy married couple, a movie star, a farm girl and a professor -- who were stranded together on a deserted island.

The film version of "Island" will reportedly retain the same basic story line as the series, but will be set in present day. No screenplay has been written for it yet, however, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
