NEW YORK, March 2 (UPI) -- TV Land says it has ordered 10 episodes of the original comedy series "Hot in Cleveland," starring Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick and Jane Leeves.

"Hot in Cleveland" is written by Emmy Award-winning Suzanne Martin, whose credits include "Frasier" and "Ellen." It is produced by Emmy Award-winner Sean Hayes, a former co-star of "Will & Grace," and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills Productions.

"We are thrilled that 'Hot in Cleveland' is TV Land's first original sit-com," Larry W. Jones, president of TV Land, said in a statement Monday. "The talented cast has amazing chemistry and delivers the clever script from a renowned sit-com writer with hilarity and sincerity. This show has enormous potential and we are so excited to be a part of it."

The network describes the series as being about "three fabulous, L.A. women of a certain age and best friends."

"Their lives are changed forever when their plane -- headed for Paris -- unexpectedly lands in Cleveland and they soon rediscover themselves in this new 'promised land,'" TV Land said in a news release. "Loving their new home, the women find themselves living under one roof and battling the sassy caretaker of the property they have rented, played by Betty White."
