NEW YORK, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Nadya Suleman, a California mom who became a celebrity after giving birth to octuplets last year, is to make her first appearance on "The View," ABC said.

Bill Geddie, the daytime chat show's executive producer, made the announcement Thursday.

Dubbed by the media as "Octomom," the controversial figure is confirmed to be a guest on next Wednesday's edition of the show. In addition to the octuplets, the unemployed single mom has six other children and reportedly supports her children largely through public assistance.

"I am elated. I am honored. I love 'The View' and can't wait to meet everyone, my heroes. I can't wait to see New York," Suleman said in a statement to ABC.
