LOS ANGELES, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- U.S. musician Kevin Eubanks has confirmed he will play a smaller role on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" when the show returns next month.

"I'll still be around on the show, but less as of now. I'll tweet when a definite plan is set," People.com quoted Eubanks as saying via Twitter Thursday.

Eubanks began working with Leno on "Tonight" in 1992, then followed him to the prime-time series "The Jay Leno Show" after Leno was ousted at the end of last season to make way for Conan O'Brien.

O'Brien left "Tonight" after seven months and Leno is slated to return as host March 1.
