LOS ANGELES, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Police say a car belonging to Charlie Sheen was stolen from the actor's garage and later found wrecked in a Los Angeles ravine.

Police said Friday that thieves were able to steal the four-door sedan as Sheen, 44, apparently left the keys in his 2009 Mercedes-Benz as it sat in an open garage, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.

The vehicle was found badly damaged in a ravine nearly two miles from the "Two and a Half Men" actor's home after authorities were notified of a crash by the vehicle's electronic security system.

A search of the area around the crash site did not uncover the driver of the stolen vehicle or any passengers who may have been traveling in the car, police said.

Police spokesman Richard French said another stolen vehicle was found nearly 200 yards from the crash site. That luxury car had been stolen from a nearby neighborhood, French added.

The Times said the stolen car incident comes as Sheen is set to appear in court to determine if he will face charges of second-degree assault, menacing and criminal mischief over an alleged domestic abuse incident on Christmas Day.
