ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Reality television personality Phil Harris was hospitalized and underwent surgery in Anchorage, Alaska, after suffering a stroke.

Harris, captain of the Cornelia Marie crab boat, stars in the Discovery documentary program "Deadliest Catch," which has run for five seasons and is expected to begin a sixth this year.

USA Today said Harris fell ill Friday as he was unloading his boat and subsequently underwent an operation on Saturday. Details of the surgery were not immediately released.

"Captain Phil is resting comfortably and is in the care of excellent doctors and nurses," the Discovery Channel show's Web site said Monday.
