Barrowman to join 'Housewives' cast

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Scottish-born television star John Barrowman is joining the cast of the U.S. series "Desperate Housewives," an ABC representative said.

The network representative told Zap2it.com the BBC's popular "Torchwood" and "Doctor Who" hero will appear on "Housewives" in a five-episode arc to begin in April.

Entertainment Weekly cited an unnamed show insider as saying Barrowman's character will cross paths with Drea de Matteo's character Angie in the upcoming plot line.
