LOS ANGELES, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- U.S. actor James Mitchell, who played Palmer Cortlandt on TV's "All My Children" for 30 years, has died of lung disease complicated by pneumonia, ABC said.
He was 89.

TVGuide.com said the Sacramento native and Broadway star died Friday.
He was most recently seen on-screen in the soap opera's 40th anniversary special Jan. 5.
His film credits include "The Turning Point," "The Band Wagon" and "Oklahoma!", TVGuide.com noted.
Mitchell is survived by his longtime partner, Albert Wolsky.
