LOS ANGELES, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Film icon Dennis Hopper has filed for divorce from Victoria, his wife of nearly 14 years, in a Los Angeles court, records show.

Hopper, 73, is best known for his roles in the big-screen classics "True Grit," "Easy Rider" and "Apocalypse Now." He now stars in the TV drama "Crash."

People.com said he cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for his breakup from his wife and noted Tuesday as the date of their separation.

The Hoppers are the parents of a 6-year-old daughter, of whom Dennis is seeking joint legal and physical custody, People.com said.
