Cross-country drive on 2 gallons of gas


LOS ANGELES, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- ABC says it has renewed its U.S. comedies "Cougar Town," "The Middle" and "Modern Family" for a second season.
The orders will carry the shows through the 2010-11 television season.
Stephen McPherson, president of ABC Entertainment Group, made the announcement Tuesday at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour.
All three shows debuted last fall.
