'Bad,' 'Dexter' vie for WGA TV drama award

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- "Breaking Bad," "Dexter," "Friday Night Lights," "Lost" and "Mad Men" were nominated Monday for the Writers Guild of America award for best TV drama writing.

Shortlisted for the WGA prize for best television comedy writing are "30 Rock," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Glee," "Modern Family" and "The Office."

Up for the best new series honor are the writing teams for "Glee," "The Good Wife," "Hung," "Modern Family" and "Nurse Jackie."

Vying for the title of best long-form original television program are the scribes behind "Georgia O'Keeffe," "Grey Gardens" and "Pedro."

The nominees for best comedy/variety writing are "Real Time with Bill Maher," "Saturday Night Live,"

"The Colbert Report," "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien."

Nominated for daytime serial writing are the teams for "All My Children," "As the World Turns," "One Life to Live" and "The Young & the Restless."

The winners are to be announced Feb. 20 at WGA ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles.
