Bonsall: I don't remember hitting friend

BOULDER, Colo., Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Former child actor Brian Bonsall says he was so drunk he doesn't remember hitting his best friend with a broken stool in Colorado.

Bonsall, 28, is best known for his portrayal of the littlest Keaton on the 1980s sit-com "Family Ties."

The ex-actor was charged with felony second-degree assault after police arrested him on suspicion of beating a friend Dec. 5.

"I don't really know what happened," Bonsall told the Boulder (Colo.) Daily Camera after a court hearing Monday. "I'd gone up to my best friend's house and was intoxicated with alcohol and blacked out."

Bonsall emphasized he is working out a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with the alleged incident, the newspaper said.

The former child star, who is also suspected of violating probation in a 2007 case in which he assaulted his girlfriend, said he is trying to get his life back together.

"I'm going to curb this problem of mine and try and live out my dream of playing music," he told the Daily Camera.

Bonsall is due back in court Jan. 15.
