Report: Nicole Richie to star in sit-com

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Former U.S. reality television personality Nicole Richie is set to star in the pilot for a new half-hour comedy series, sources told Variety.

The single-camera half-hour sit-com reportedly is in development at ABC.

In it, Richie will play a career woman with complicated family relationships, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.

The real-life mother of two young children is best known for her work on the reality TV program "The Simple Life." She has also appeared on the scripted series "Chuck," "8 Simple Rules" and "American Dreams."
