LOS ANGELES, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Thora Birch, Nancy Travis and Camryn Manheim have signed up to star in a new U.S. television movie called "The Pregnancy Pact," Lifetime announced.

"Inspired by a true story, the film explores the costs of teen pregnancy set against the backdrop of the infamous alleged 2008 'pregnancy pact' in Gloucester, Mass.," the network said in a news release.

In the Lifetime Original Movie, Birch plays a reporter who returns to her hometown to investigate the sudden spike in teenage pregnancies at her old high school. Travis plays the head of the local conservative values group and mother of a pregnant 15-year-old, while Manheim plays the school nurse.

The TV movie is to air Jan. 23.
