Talk show host McManus says no more 'Rove'

SYDNEY, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Australian TV star Rove McManus said he is leaving his popular TV talk show "Rove."

The Age (Melbourne) said in its Monday edition that McManus, 35, announced on his Channel Ten series this weekend he is parting ways with the talk show he has hosted for a decade.

"It was a difficult call to make but after 10 years it felt like time to step away from the show and take a break to properly reflect on what I want to do next as a performer," McManus said.

"The relationship with David Mott (chief programming officer) and the team at Ten has given us the space to make a show that we are extremely proud of over the last 10 years. It is more opportunity than most will ever get," he added.

The (Sydney) Daily Telegraph said the announcement from McManus comes after "Rove" has struggled in the ratings after peaking in June with 1.5 million viewers.

During recent weeks, the talk show has drawn only 800,000 viewers with "Australian Idol" serving as its lead-in.
