LOS ANGELES, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Colin Hanks has been cast opposite Bradley Whitford in "Jack and Dan," Fox's upcoming 13-episode action comedy series set in Los Angeles.

The Hollywood Reporter said Hanks will play Jack, a by-the-book police detective who finds himself partnered with Dan, an alcoholic veteran cop on the edge.

Hanks, the son of Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks, has appeared in the films "Orange County," "King Kong" and "The House Bunny." He also starred on the television series "Roswell" and had a recurring role on "Mad Men."

Whitford is best known for his work on TV's "The West Wing" and "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip."
