LOS ANGELES, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- U.S. television actress Nicole Eggert admitted she was shocked when she saw tabloid photographs documenting her recent weight gain.
Eggert is best known for her roles on "Charles in Charge" and "Baywatch."
"At first I didn't recognize myself. It said, 'Baywatch Babe.' And then I looked at it, and then I went, 'Oh my God,'" Eggert told TV's "Inside Edition," clarifying she gained 30 pounds, not 50 as the tabloids reported.
"I went through a really rough time … I lost my father in a really tough battle with cancer, and I also went through a bad relationship."
Eggert said in the interview she had replaced her workout routine with food, but is now on a mission to get back in shape, working out two hours a day on the treadmill, doing crunches and running on the beach.
"Slowly but surely, I'm seeing results … It just feels good to be working out again," she said.
Eggert recently poked fun at her weight gain in a comic clip for FunnyOrDie.com. In it, she dons her "Baywatch" bathing suit and tries to rescue two guys pretending to drown in the hopes of meeting a pretty lifeguard. However, when they see Eggert's fuller figure, they tell her they're fine and don't need aid.
