MIAMI, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Philip Michael Thomas, a former star of TV's "Miami Vice," is to serve as host for a fundraiser for Whilly Bermudez's campaign for the Florida legislature.
The event is scheduled for Nov. 14 in Miami.
"Actor Philip Michael Thomas joins a growing list of celebrities that are passionate about their communities and the current state of our nation," The Whilly Bermudez Group said Monday a news release. "Mr. Thomas believes that 'political action' means supporting good people."
"Doing the right thing and electing the right candidates is a bipartisan responsibility; this is why I'm supporting Whilly Bermudez for the Florida House," Thomas,a resident of South Florida, said in a statement.
"Many Miami residents are excited about possibly being photographed with the television icon and paying tribute to one of the greatest television shows of all time," Kenneth Masmella, senior vice president of the WB Media Group, said. "Many more potential sponsors are contacting our group to secure the sponsorship opportunity. Who wasn't a fan of 'Miami Vice?' The homes, the colors, the cars, the scenes, all in the name of fighting crime in one of America's most beautiful cities."
