TLC suing Jon Gosselin

NEW YORK, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- The U.S. cable network TLC is suing Jon Gosselin, one of the stars of its reality TV series "Jon & Kate Plus 8," for breach of contract, court records indicate.

The show follows the lives of Jon and Kate Gosselin and their eight children.

The couple announced during the summer they planned to divorce after nearly 10 years of marriage. Jon Gosselin recently blocked TLC, the network that airs the show, from taping at the family's home in Pennsylvania, claiming the process had become detrimental to his children.

The New York Post reported this week that the series is set to wrap next month in light of Jon's actions.

People.com reported TLC filed a lawsuit Friday in the Circuit Court of Montgomery County, Md., where the network's parent company is based. The documents claim Jon violated his agreement with TLC by making paid and unpaid TV appearances without its permission.

"The network has been trying privately and patiently for months to get Jon to honor the contract he signed and to comply with his obligations relating to public appearances and statements," TLC said in a statement issued to People.com. "Those efforts have been unsuccessful."

"I can't comment on something I haven't seen. Jon hasn't been served yet, either," Mark Heller, Jon's attorney, told the magazine's Web site.
