LOS ANGELES, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy will temporarily take over for ailing Derek Hough as Joanna Krupa's partner on "Dancing with the Stars," sources said.

Usmagazine.com cited unnamed show insiders as saying Hough has temporarily called out sick from the U.S. dance competition series after suffering from flu-like symptoms.

Chmerkovskiy, who recently was eliminated from the show along with his celebrity partner, Debi Mazar, reportedly will fill in for Hough while he's out.

"I think I'm getting the (flu,)" Usmagazine.com quoted Hough as saying via Twitter Thursday. "My whole body is aching like crazy. I can barely stand up.... And I'm coughing like crazy."

He later posted an update after visiting a doctor saying he had a temperature of 104.
