NEW YORK, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. late-night TV host David Letterman's recent confession of infidelity with female staff members drew impressive time-shifted ratings, TiVo said.

TiVo said time-shifted ratings for the 10 minutes Letterman spent detailing his past indiscretions on an Oct. 1 episode of "Late Night with David Letterman" increased by 75 percent, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

In comparison, the on-air confession enjoyed a 20 percent ratings increase among live viewers.

The Reporter said the ratings increases indicate U.S. residents made a point to record the "Late Night" episode and watch the live confession by the TV personality. CBS had hinted about Letterman's bombshell confession hours before the Oct. 1 show, the Hollywood publication said.

TiVo said a 3-minute segment of "Late Night" on Monday in which Letterman offered an apology to his staff also enjoyed increased time-shifted ratings.

The Reporter said time-shifted viewing of Monday's segment increased 71 percent, compared with a 22 percent increase in live viewing.
