LOS ANGELES, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Former Republican House Majority Leader Tom DeLay is to drop out of the U.S. competition series "Dancing with the Stars," sources told People magazine.

The politician, who has suffered stress fractures in both feet, reportedly is expected to announce his decision during Tuesday night's live results show.

DeLay told the magazine after Monday night's show that his doctors advised him against performing, but he wanted to keep trying.

"They're starting to tell me I shouldn't have done this," People.com quoted him as saying.

His feet were clad in orthopedic booties after the show. "I ice them. I've got a bone stimulator machine that I put on them," he said.
