June 14 (UPI) -- Garth Brooks announced Thursday he would take part in Toby Keith's concert to benefit efforts to provide relief to victims of May's tornadoes in Moore, Oklahoma.

As it turns out, Brooks is going out of his way to participate in the show. Not only has he been semi-retired since 2001, he's squeezing the show in ahead of a one already on his schedule.

Brooks's publicist Nancy Seltzer said the 51-year-old Oklahoma native would hope on a plane after playing the Twister Relief Concert at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in order to make his engagement at the Wynn Las Vegas later that night.

"Thankfully the time difference allows both," Seltzer said.

Brooks said he was more than happy to bend over backwards to play for a benefit so close to heart.

"Once we got the new that the tornado had hit Toby's hometown, Miss Yearwood and I told Toby we were at his service for whatever he chose to do," Brooks said. "I am amazed at the human spirit the tornado victims have shown. It is an honor to get to be a part of this healing process."
