Selena Gomez says reaction to faux bob was 'so funny'

April 28 (UPI) -- Selena Gomez says fan reaction to her faux bob was "so funny."

The 24-year-old singer and actress confirmed in an interview Thursday at WE Day California that she was wearing a wig in an Instagram photo that went viral this week.

"It was so funny," Gomez told Extra. "I was wearing different wigs. I trying on some stuff and I posted the picture because I liked the image. Evidently, people thought I cut my hair really short, but it's still the same length. It's a little chop."

"I don't know [if I'll actually go shorter]," she confessed. "I'm terrified. I'm going to keep it safe for now."

Gomez, who boasts 118 million Instagram followers, sent fans into a frenzy Tuesday after she shared a picture of herself with chin-length hair. The post received over 4.3 million likes.

"hair goals," one person declared in the comments.

"Love the new look!!!" another added.

Gomez, a longtime supporter of WE Day, served as host at this year's event. She told E! News she got involved with the organization, which encourages young people to take action and create change, because of the sense of community.

"The reason why I fell in love with working with WE Day is [because it's] just a family here. It's what they do for kids," the star explained.

"It's not just they want to help a specific community or want to go to a certain place in the world," she added. "They are encouraging kids from even in your backyard to be doing something for your community, for your neighborhood, for your family, for your friends."
