Nicky Jam, Jennifer Lopez win big at Billboard Latin Music Awards

April 28 (UPI) -- Reggaeton star Nicky Jam dominated the 2017 Billboard Latin Music Awards Thursday alongside other winners such as Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Iglesias.

Jam took home six awards out of the nine he was nominated for including Hot Latin Song of the Year, Latin Digital Song of the Year, Streaming Song of the Year and Latin Rhythm Song of the Year among others for his hit single "Hasta El Amanecer."

Jam also surprised fans with a special performance alongside actor and Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel.

Following closely behind with five awards, including Artist of the Yea,r was late Latin music icon Juan Gabriel who died last summer.

Iglesias. meanwhile. earned four awards including Latin Pop Songs Artist of the Year, Solo, Latin Pop Song of the Year, Latin Airplay Song of the Year and Hot Latin Song of the Year, Vocal Event for his song "Duele el Corazon."

Lopez who also debuted her new Spanish-language single "Mirate," took home the Telemundo Star Award and Best Social Media award.

Other big winners include Marc Anthony who won Tour of the Year and Tropical Albums Artist of the Year -- Solo, Shakira, who won Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year - Female and Justin Bieber, who won Crossover Artist of the Year for his recent collaboration with Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee titled "Despacito."
