LOS ANGELES, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Music superstar Nicki Minaj has split from boyfriend Meek Mill. The 34-year-old rapper confirmed Thursday on Twitter that she and the 29-year-old recording artist recently called it quits after nearly two years of dating.

"To confirm, yes I am single. Focusing on my work & looking forward to sharing it with you guys really soon. Have a blessed New Year. Love u," she tweeted to her 20.7 million followers.
TMZ reported this week that Minaj and Mill spent Christmas apart and partied separately in Miami on New Year's Eve. Minaj had first sparked breakup rumors in December 2016 by quoting Beyoncé's song "Best Thing You Never Had" on Instagram.
"Thank God u BLUE it. Thank God I dodged the bullet. I'm so over u. Baby good lookin out. #BestThingUNeverHad," she captioned a photo of her new Chanel slides.
Minaj and Mill were first linked in early 2015 and sparked engagement rumors the next year. The rapper denied she was engaged on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in April, saying she would rather label herself single than deal with public scrutiny.
"First of all, that's not an engagement ring," she said of the enormous diamond ring Mill gave her in December 2015. "I have two rings from this boy who likes me .... If I get a third ring, that would be my engagement ring."
"In fact, I don't even want to say I'm in a relationship anymore," the star added. "It's better just to keep those things sacred. So now, I don't really care to say I'm in a relationship or engaged or whatever. There's a boy who likes me, that's all."
