LOS ANGELES, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Hundreds of fans gathered Tuesday to see Selena Quintanilla's wax figure unveiled at Madame Tussauds in Los Angeles.

The wax museum revealed its statue of the late Tejano singer more than 21 years after her death, with her brother, A.B. Quintanilla, sister, Suzette Quintanilla, and widower, Chris Perez, in attendance.

"We are just ecstatic about being here," Suzette told fans on Selena's official Facebook page prior to the event. "It's incredible. It's been 21 years, and us, on behalf of our family, we just want to say thank you."

Madame Tussauds Hollywood had announced in July that Selena would be honored with a wax figure. The museum worked with the Quintanilla family to create the statue, which is valued at approximately $350,000.

"At Madame Tussauds, our figures represent icons who have made a significant impact on our culture. That perfectly describes Selena," Madame Tussauds general manager Colin Thomas said at the time.

"Her influence has transcended generations and her passionate fans continue to be inspired by her to this day," he added. "We recognize this and in response, we are proud to join her fans in celebrating her legacy by immortalizing her."
