Enrique Iglesias, Nicky Jam dominate 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards

MIAMI, April 29 (UPI) -- Enrique Iglesias and Nicky Jam won big Thursday night during the 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

The duo took home seven awards each sharing six of them including Hot Latin Song of the Year, Vocal Event, Airplay Song of the Year, Digital Song of the Year, Streaming Song of the Year and Latin Rhythm Song of the Yearfor their chart-topping hit "El Perdon."

Separately, Iglesias earned Latin Pop Songs Artist of the Year while Jam won Latin Rhythm Songs Artist of the Year.

Following close behind was veteran singer and songwriter Juan Gabriel with six awards including Top Latin Album of the Year and Latin Pop Album of the Year for his comeback duet album, Los Duo. Artist of the Year went to Romeo Santos who won five awards in total.

The event, which took place at the BankUnited Center at the University of Miami in Florida, featured headlining performances by Marco Antonio Solis with Natalia Jimenez and Marc Anthony and reggaeton artists Daddy Yankee with former rival Don Omar.
