WASHINGTON, April 28 (UPI) -- The comeback of the rock band Blink-182 begins with the release of the band's latest single, "Bored to Death."

The group released a lyric video for the song Wednesday to promote the upcoming album California, due out July 1.

The new song is reminiscent of the band's previous sound, including lyrics like, "Save your breath/I'm nearly bored to death/and fading fast," and "Life is too short to last long."

Blink-182 had teased fans on social media with snippets of the single's comic book-inspired cover art starting Sunday before releasing the tune.

Band members will talk to radio hosts on the Kevin and Bean show for KROQ early Thursday morning about the new album. It marks the first new record from the group since Dogs Eating Dogs in 2012.

After previewing the album, Lisa Worden, music director of KROQ, predicted fans would be "ecstatic" about the new music. "It sounds like Blink-182 but it sounds like Blink in 2016. Lyrically it's clever," she said.
