NEW YORK, April 8 (UPI) -- Carly Rae Jepsen has released the music video for her latest single, "Boy Problems," from last year's record E-MO-TION.

Barbie Ferreira, Diana Veras and Tavi Gevinson make cameos in the video, as it portrays different groups of young women gossiping about their apparent "boy problems."

The colorful clip, directed by visual artist Petra Collins, was an impromptu project between she and Jepsen, according to a release.

"Out of the blue, Petra reached out to ask if she could make a video for her favorite track on the album -- 'Boy Problems,'" the Grease Live! actress and singer said.

"What she didn't know is that I had been following her online via Instagram and other outlets for a while and had become a HUGE fan of her photographs and artwork. I think she has a very gifted eye for a refreshing look at youth and beauty and the way she plays with color always stands out to me. So the answer was an immediate YES!"

E-MO-TION was one of the best albums of 2015, according to leading industry outlets like Rolling Stone, Time, Entertainment Weekly and others. She recently completed her Gimme Love tour, which sold out in major cities like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Seattle and Minneapolis. The actress and musician will next headline at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago this summer.
