LONDON, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Adele released her highly anticipated new album, 25, on Friday.

The 27-year-old English singer penned an emotional message to fans on social media following the record's debut, nearly five years after her last release, 21.

"This feels like such a long time coming, my new album is finally out," she wrote. "I am so overwhelmed and grateful to be able to even put another record out, and put it out how I want."

"The last month has been a whirlwind, it's literally taken my breath away," she shared. "I hope you enjoy the record as much as I enjoyed making it for you."

Adele last dropped 21 in January 2011 and released "Hello" as 25's lead single in October. Sources told the New York Times the new album will not be available to stream on major sites such as Apple Music and Spotify.

"This is a minor issue for Adele, but a major issue for the streaming services," digital media analyst Mark Mulligan said. Fellow stars Taylor Swift and Beyoncé have also removed or withheld albums from streaming sites, claiming the free format devalues music.

Adele previously told fans she considers 25 a "makeup record," whereas 21 was a "breakup record." The singer co-wrote the album's 11 tracks, which include "When We Were Young," "Water Under the Bridge" and "Love in the Dark."
