PITTSBURGH, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Wiz Khalifa's smash-hit "See You Again" has hit triple-platinum status, Atlantic Records has announced.

The song featuring Charlie Puth that was featured on the Furious 7 soundtrack and was dedicated to the late Paul Walker, has reached the milestone after topping Billboard's Hot 100 list for 12 weeks. The track is now tied with Eminem's "Lose Yourself" as the longest running rap single to stay atop the charts.

On Thursday, "See You Again" became the first rap song to hit 1 billion YouTube views just six months after it was posted on the video-sharing website. The chart-topper is also the fastest video on YouTube in 2015 to reach that many views.

The accompanying video features Khalifa and Puth performing the song mixed in with retrospective footage spanning the Fast and Furious saga.

Khalifa and Puth will be honored with the Hollywood Song Award during the Hollywood Film Awards ceremony in Beverly Hills on Nov. 1.

The Fast and Furious series will continue on as Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray recently entered into exclusive talks with Universal to direct Fast and Furious 8.
