Jennifer Lopez to host the American Music Awards on Nov. 22

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Recording artist and actress Jennifer Lopez is to host and perform at the 2015 American Music Awards ceremony in Los Angeles next month, dick clark productions announced Wednesday.

The star-studded event will be televised on ABC, live from the Microsoft Theater on Nov. 22.

"The show will feature the hottest performances from today's biggest artists and present fan-voted awards in the categories of Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Alternative Rock, Adult Contemporary, Latin, Contemporary Inspirational, Electronic Dance Music, as well as categories for New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl's, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Top Soundtrack," a news release said.

Nominations for six of the prizes are to be announced by musicians Joe Jonas and Charlie Puth on Tuesday's edition of Good Morning America. Immediately following the GMA broadcast, five additional categories will be revealed exclusively via Snapchat -- TheAMAs -- in real time.

Lopez, 46, will begin headlining All I Have, her new stage show at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, in January.
