Janet Jackson halts tour prep to be with dad Joe Jackson

The singer announced her "Unbreakable" world tour in June.

LOS ANGELES, July 29 (UPI) -- Janet Jackson has reportedly halted her tour prep to be with dad Joe Jackson following his stroke.

The 49-year-old singer will shut down production on her Unbreakable world tour to stay by her 87-year-old father's side until he is stable, reports Entertainment Tonight.

Joe Jackson was celebrating his birthday in Sao Paolo, Brazil, when he suffered a stroke July 25. The talent manager was admitted to Albert Einstein Hospital on Sunday, and shared an update with fans on his website Monday.

"To my family, friends, acquaintances and fans all over the world. I want to thank you all for your prayers, unwavering support and kind well wishes during these trying times. Through God's intervention the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and caretakers at the Albert Einstein Sao Paolo hospital have taken great care of me. God willing, I should be able to make a quick recovery and travel back home soon. Thank you all once again for your prayers and support."

Janet Jackson announced her Unbreakable world tour in June. The tour is in support of her upcoming 11th studio album, which will debut in the fall, and scheduled to kick off August 31 in Vancouver, B.C. The singer last released Discipline in February 2008.
