BALTIMORE, May 6 (UPI) -- Music icon Prince has announced plans for a Rally 4 Peace concert at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore on Sunday, Mother's Day.

Prince will take the stage with his band 3RDEYEGIRL and other superstar guests are expected to turn out for the event. Attendees are invited to wear gray "in tribute to all those recently lost in the violence," Live Nation said in a news release.

The show is being described as a "family-friendly event" intended to be "a catalyst for pause and reflection following the outpouring of violence that has gripped Baltimore and areas throughout the United States."

Details surfaced last week about a protest song titled "Baltimore" that Prince wrote and recorded in response to the civil unrest following the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray while he was in police custody. Six officers have since been arrested.

Tickets for the concert are now on sale. A portion of the proceeds will be directed to the benefit of local Baltimore-based youth charities, organizers said.
