AUCKLAND, New Zealand, April 27 (UPI) -- Demi Lovato dedicated her song "Warrior" to Bruce Jenner in concert Saturday.

The 22-year-old singer was performing in Auckland, New Zealand when she addressed the 65-year-old reality star's gender transition. Jenner confirmed he is transitioning from male to female in a Diane Sawyer interview Friday, and has not yet indicated he would prefer female pronouns.

"I want to dedicate [this song] to someone who became an even bigger hero last night -- Bruce Jenner!" the pop star announced.

"He was honest and he was open with his story," she related. "No matter if you agree with it or not, he probably saved so many lives and educated so many people [about] transitioning into being a woman and transgender [and] what that's all about."

Lovato compared the reality star's struggles to her own problems with an eating disorder and drug and alcohol abuse. The singer has been sober for over three years, and celebrated the milestone with boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama in March.
