Lollapalooza announces lineup for music festival

CHICAGO, March 25 (UPI) -- Lollapalloza announced the talent lineup for their music festival which includes headliners Paul McCartney and Metallica and artists Sam Smith and Charli XCX.

The talent for the three-day festival in Chicago will start with Paul McCartney on July 31 and will feature The Weeknd, Alt-J, Alabama Shakes, Kaskade, Dillon Francis, Gary Clark Jr., Flying Lotus, Hot Chip, and the War on Drugs. On Aug. 1, Metallica will be the headliner with Sam Smith, Alesso, Tame Impala, Kid Cudi, Brand New, Carnage, G-Eazy, Walk the Moon, Tyler the Creator, The Tallest Man on Earth, Banks, Chet Faker, Sturgill Simpson, Death From Above 1979, Toro y Moi, and Charli XCX.

The final day will feature Florence + the Machine leading Bassnectar, Of Monsters and Men, A$AP Rocky, TV On The Radio, Nero, twenty one pilots, Nicky Romero, Kygo, Marina and the Diamonds, FKA Twigs and Lord Huron.

McCartney was reportedly offered a large amount of cash to headline the show and it will be his first appearance at the festival. Metalliza last played at the show in 1996 when it was traveling rather than based in Chicago.
