Rihanna debuts new song 'American Oxygen'

The single hails from the singer's upcoming eighth studio album, "R8."

PORTLAND, Ore., March 6 (UPI) -- Rihanna debuted new song "American Oxygen" on Thursday.

The 27-year-old singer performed the single in an ad spot for NCAA March Madness. The annual Division I college basketball tournament will kick off March 17 at UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio.

The single will appear on Rihanna's upcoming eighth studio album, R8. The singer took to Instagram earlier in the day to tease new songs "Higher" and "Dancing in the Dark," in addition to "Towards the Sun" from the Home soundtrack.

Rihanna last released Unapologetic in November 2012. The record debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and includes the singles "Stay" and "Pour it Up." The singer celebrated her 27th birthday February 20, and was photographed for the first time with rumored beau Leonardo DiCaprio.
