LOS ANGELES, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Incubus will release a new, two-part album in 2015.

The rock band announced the news in an interview with Billboard published Thursday. Incubus last debuted If Not Now, When? in July 2011 on Epic, and signed a contract with Island Records earlier this week.

"We didn't have any plans to make this record," guitarist Mike Einziger related. "Just having no horizon to look at was important for us. We needed that. We're planning on releasing two installments that will total an album, two EPs."

Einziger revealed the band plans to release the first part in February or March, with the second to follow in the summer. The musician said most of the new music is "high energy," but also includes slow, heavy and aggressive tracks.

Incubus formed in 1991, and debuted their first album, Fungus Amongus, in 1995. Original members Einziger, Brandon Boyd and Jose Pasillas are still with the band; Chris Kilmore joined in 1998, and Ben Kenney in 2002.

The new, two-part record will mark the group's eighth studio album. Their most successful record, Morning View, was released in 2001, and includes the singles "Wish You Were Here" and "Nice to Know You."
