HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- County music icon Glen Campbell is receiving a lifetime achievement award at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards for a career that spans five decades.

The Gentle on My Mind singer is receiving the recognition for his contribution to the music industry, which includes the release of more than 70 albums and the sale of more than 45 million records, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Over the course of his career, Campbell won five Grammys, three Grammy Hall of Fame honors, seven Academy of Country Music Awards, three American Music Awards, two Country Music Association Awards, three Gospel Music Association Dove Awards and one Pioneer Award honor.

He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005, though he's often considered one of the first country musicians to cross over to the pop charts.

The 5th annual Hollywood Music in Media Awards is taking place Nov. 4 at the Fonda Theater in Hollywood.

Campbell was recently placed in a care facility and was forced to cancel the end of his farewell tour due to experience increased symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.
