LONDON, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Pink Floyd's new album, The Endless River, is dedicated to late keyboardist Rick Wright.

The record is the band's fifteenth studio release, and their first new album since 1994's The Division Bell. Guitarist David Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason detailed the project in a statement, and said it felt "right" to release songs Wright contributed to before his death in 2008.

"We listened to over 20 hours of the three of us playing together and selected the music we wanted to work on for the new album," Gilmour revealed. "Over the last year we've added new parts, re-recorded others and generally harnessed technology to make a 21st century Pink Floyd album. With Rick gone, and with him the chance of ever doing it again, it feels right that these revisited and reworked tracks should be made available as part of our repertoire."

"The Endless River is a tribute to Rick," Mason added. "I think this record is a good way of recognizing a lot of what he does and how his playing was at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. Listening back to the sessions, it really brought home to me what a special player he was."

Mason and Wright founded Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett and Roger Waters in 1965, and Gilmour joined the band in 1967. The lineup changed several times throughout the years, and the group disbanded in 1994. Pink Floyd has sold over 250 million records as of 2013.

The Endless River is an instrumental album with one track, "Louder Than Words," with lyrics by Gilmour's wife Polly Sampson. The record is scheduled for release November 7.
