John Mellencamp announces 2015 concert tour

The musician is scheduled to play 80 shows, starting Jan. 21 in South Bend, Ind., and continuing throughout the summer.

NEW YORK, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Grammy Award-winning rocker John Mellencamp has announced dates for his 2015 Plain Spoken North American concert tour.

The musician is scheduled to play 80 shows, starting Jan. 21 in South Bend, Ind., and continuing throughout the summer.

Other stops will include Nashville, Chicago, Minneapolis, New York and dozens of other cities. The special guest on the tour will be Carlene Carter.

A portion of the ticket proceeds from the final performance held in Indianapolis at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse Aug. 4 will be donated to the Riley Children's Foundation, which supports Riley Hospital for Children, AEG Live said.

Tickets for all the concerts go on sale Sept. 19.

Mellencamp's latest album Plain Spoken is set for release Sept. 23 via Republic Records.

Concertgoers will receive a digital download of the record with the online or phone purchase of tickets to the tour.
