NEW YORK, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Mary J. Blige's new album, The London Sessions, is inspired by and features British artists.

The 43-year-old singer collaborated with Sam Smith, Disclosure, Emeli Sandé, Jimmy Napes, Naughty Boy and Sam Romans on the project. The record pays homage to London's music scene, and will be released December 2 on Capital Records.

"It's all about the London music scene and I'm so excited to have been part of it, to record my album," Blige said in a statement. "The songs are fun, therapeutic and soulful. This is a beautiful change for me and I'm proud of what we have done here."

"Mary J. Blige created a one-of-a-kind blend of hip-hop and soul that has excited fans for more than 20 years, making her one of the most successful and acclaimed artists in any genre of music," Capitol chairman Steve Barnett lauded. "The London Sessions is a fantastic album; another step forward for this great and enduring artist."

Blige previously worked with Disclosure on a remix of the electronic duo's song "F for You." The singer also teamed up with Sam Smith for a duet version of his hit "Stay with Me." Blige released the soundtrack for Think Like A Man Too in June, holiday album A Mary Christmas in 2013 and My Life II... The Journey Continues (Act 1) in 2011.
