LOS ANGELES, July 15 (UPI) -- Rihanna came under fire on Twitter after tweeting -- and later deleting -- "#FreePalestine" Tuesday Morning.

While the singer has failed to explain the situation herself, a source told TMZ that, "She deleted it because it was never meant to be tweeted."

The insider added that Rihanna "didn't even realize it was a tweet until she started hearing from her fans."

The "Diamonds" singer was reportedly reading an article on the situation on the Middle East when she clicked on a link. Eight minutes later she started getting tweets from her fans and deleted the post.
