LOS ANGELES, June 20 (UPI) -- Kesha opened up about her upcoming projects while speaking to People magazine at a press event for her new show Rising Star.

"I'm working on some new music that I don't think anyone expects to be the type of music I'm working on," said the 27-year-old star, who is also set to join ABC's reality singing competition as a judge alongside Brad Paisley and Ludacris.

"It's terrifying for those kids," she said of new mentees. "I feel so bad for them, but I'm really excited. I think people would be surprised how different I would like the talent to be. I want country, I want polka -- all of it!"

Asked about her judging style, the singer said that while she's not "mean," she can't help but being honest.

"I have no filter," she said. "It just comes out of my mouth."

"She has no problem being honest," added Paisley. "I might have a problem, but [our role is] less about being that person that decides someone's fate and more about helping them get their best self out there."

Kesha's return to the spotlight comes three months after she completed a stint in rehab for eating disorders.

Rising Star will premiere on June 22.
