NEW YORK, June 18 (UPI) -- Eric Church opened up about his alleged feud with country music princess Taylor Swift during an interview for the first ever issue of Rolling Stone Country.

The controversy between the two country singers began at the Country Music Awards in December 2013 after Swift thanked Church for getting dropped as an opener for the Rascal Flats tour early in her career, thus making room for her.

After the fact, Church released -- and quickly deleted -- a cryptic video with the sentence "One Will rise and One Will Fall" that led many to believe he had a beef with the 24-year-old singer.

"This is about where my manager about got me killed," Church said of the incident. "When Taylor was on the CMA awards thanking me for getting kicked off the Flatts tour, I saw it on the bus and loved it. What John wanted to show was we wanted to pay homage to our path and what this record was, going with what Taylor said."

The 37-year-old singer explained that the clip meant that his fifth studio album's first single, "The Outsiders," would fall and the second one, "Give Me Back My Hometown," would rise.

"I love Taylor. I love her art her creatively, we're buds. All of a sudden I'm calling out Taylor, and it couldn't have been farther from the truth. It was the most insane thing. It was so blown out of proportion," he continued.

Church added that the video was eventually taken down because of the commotion it was creating.

"I didn't like that dialog," he said. "It was never intended. Taylor and I laughed about it later. My son [two-year-old Boone] knows who she is when she comes on TV. He calls her Aunt Tay Tay. I told her that, she loved it."
