LOS ANGELES, June 17 (UPI) -- Katy Perry has joined forces with Capitol Records to launch her very own music label, Metamorphosis Music.

The 29-year-old "Birthday" singer made the announcement Tuesday in a tweet where she also introduced her first signing.

"I am so ECSTATIC to finally announce my NEW label Metamorphosis Music & my first signing, the incredibly talented & soulful FERRAS! @ferras," Perry wrote.

Perry is credited as an executive producer in Ferras' newly released self-titled EP, which includes a duet with Perry.

"Her instincts are really on point," Ferras said of Perry's production work in a release. "She is very blunt and doesn't sugar-coat things, which I appreciate. Also, she gave me the freedom to do what I wanted musically and was a natural partner."

In addition to their new business venture, Ferras has been opening for the "Dark Horse" singer's Prismatic World Tour.
