LOS ANGELES, May 20 (UPI) -- Marilyn Manson has taken to social media to express his grief over his mother's recent death.

The 45-year-old musician, born Brian Warner, posted a loving tribute to his mother on Facebook and Twitter. Barbara Warner, 68, died last week after a years-long battle with dementia.

"Mother, to the first and greatest believer in me...I hope I see you again someday. But not now, because I have more things I promised I would do. I'll make you proud and satisfied that you know that you made the son you wanted. I love you."

Barbara's funeral service was a private affair in Manson's hometown of Canton, Ohio. The family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers.
