Base and Bryce came to fame with their 1988 hit "It Takes Two." The song samples 1972 Lyn Collins hit "Think (About It)," and is infused with hip-hop and house music elements. "It Takes Two" became a pop culture staple, and Snoop Dogg, Gang Starr and Girl Talk are just some of the artists who have sampled the track in their own work.

Several hip-hop artists have taken to social media to express their condolences.

Base himself has posted a picture of Bryce with the caption, "R.I.P Skip (DJ E-Z Rock) my friend. My brother."
