“I am so so gutted to have to do this but my parents and my team stepped in telling me I needed a break,” Lorde continued.

The 17-year-old singer went on to say that she's been "non-stop" since the Grammy awards in January -- where she won two awards, including Best Solo Artist -- adding that she'll likely resume the tour in November.

"I'm truly sorry if i let you down or if you feel inconvenienced by this and i hope you can understand. x" she concluded.

Lorde recently performed in the South American fest Lollapalooza and at the Coachella Festival in April 2014. The singer's Australian tour, was scheduled to open Thursday in Melbourne.
